Background
During the draft of the plans for "Case Yellow", the attack on France, the fortress Eben Emael in Belgium just took a central role from the beginning. It was the intention to steer the attention of the allied supreme command with revolutionary airborne units and operations on the northern wing to encourage him to shift the main emphasis of his troops there. Focus of all German considerations was just the taking of the fortress Eben Emael which was reputed as being impregnable. The group "Granite" needed 17 minutes to carry out a plan thought up by Hitler personally to conquer the Fort.
