Finally, the new program 2007 is available!In comparison to 2006 we now offer more trips to more destinations.
To go east was something we always wanted to do, but only now are we sure to satisfy our customers needs with infrastructure greatly improved in countries such as Russia or Ukraine.
With our partners in Kiev, Moscow and Volgograd we have created a team capable to turn our ideas into reality. You can already look forward to new friendships in these territories.
A real cracker in 2007 will be our very first tour to Scotland. With the Edinburgh Military Tattoo celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2007, we do have the perfect highlight.
A true Scot, Major Nigel Dunkley, will present Scotland´s military heritage, its fantastic nature and people.
To deal with the younger history of Germany is important to us. That´s why we consider it politically correct (for a German company) to get on such sensible German issues such as secret weapons technology, secret weapon underground-production and the link to slave labour of tens of thousands of people. The trip to beautiful Thuringia will be a real treat to many military history buffs.
The new offer to Malta is another highlight of 2007, as it combines the beauty of the Mediterranean with historic sites and legends. In order to see all great locations would require weeks, but we are sure that those who are interested in the military history of Malta will be pleased after our tour. And above all, there is still a day-off for the beaches of Gozo!
The Middle Ages are covered for the first time in 2007 and we believe that the trip to Crecy and Agincourt is the perfect gate to more medieval adventures to come in the future. The medieval centre of Agincourt has a lot to offer, including the experience of experimenting with a longbow.
An extraordinary tour is going to be the 3-day Sedan tour, the “Gate to France”. Here is a unique chance to learn from Brigadier General (retired) Joachim Behne the background to the battles of 1870, 1914 and 1940. You will be surprised to learn how little the topography has changed in all these years.
New day tour destinations are Arnhem, Liege, Waterloo and Luxembourg. Luxembourg continues our series of great fortresses. Liege and its ring of forts is of great interest because of the battle of 1914 at the beginning of the Great War. It cemented Krupp´s reputation as manufacturer of effective siege guns. To waste a word about Waterloo would mean to carry coals to Newcastle and Arnhem became world-famous by “Operation Market Garden”.
The Battlefield Travel Team will continue to develop new tours and to keep the current ones updated. You would be surprised to learn how much has changed and developed in Normandy or the Bretagne. The same applies for the battlefield of the Great War. Germany, on irritating terms with its own history, could learn a lot from the French in regards to conserving national history.
And finally some words regarding our forthcoming tour of Israel. This will happen between November 4 and 10 and will be updating you as soon as there are new developments. All details will be made public by the end of January.
