London and the Blitz

The Battle for England on the ground and in the air. The Battle of Britain was not just a battle between two global ideologies, it was also the last battle to be fought in something like the manner of the knights of old. It is therefore not surprising that this period plays such a special role in the English psyche.

This trip will give you an amazing opportunity to visit the original sites of British history making of World War II. A splendid hotel in the West End of London with its incredible night life will make this yourney unforgettable.

Historical background

The summer of 1940. France has fallen, Poland, the Benelux states, Norway and Denmark are occupied. The British are bracing themselves for the invasion by Hitler's troops and are preparing for the final battle. July 1940 sees the start of what will later become to be called The Battle of Britain.

Churchill is in conference with his closest aides and the chiefs of staff of the three forces (Army, Navy and Air Force) in the Cabinet War Rooms in Whitehall, the HQ from which the British Prime Minister would direct the course of the war.

Today, the original locations have been transformed into an impressive exhibition and museum which make it possible to get a real feel for what happened during World War II. This is living history as it can only be told in England. This includes the Battle of England airfield at Duxford near Cambridge with its impressive exhibitions, the Imperial War Museum and the Cabinet War Rooms in the heart of London with the fantastic new Churchill Museum, and the battleship HMS Belfast moored in the Thames.
