
6-day trip: Dramatic Events in the East
Thanks to relentless Nazi propaganda, defensive action in the east developed diametrically to the battle situation in the west. No mercy was shown, either on the ground or in the air. Breslau/Wroclaw had to bear the brunt until May 6, while Dresden experienced its martyrdom in February 1945. And all the while, Allied POWs were trying hard to escape.

Travel from Cologne to Colditz. View Colditz castle and the escape museum Continue to Görlitz and the check in to the Mercure Parkhotel Goerlitz. Dinner at the hotel |

Walking tour of the town of Görlitz Travel to Zagan (Poland) to the STALAG III camp Visit the remains of Stalag III and Stalag VIIC, and view the museum. Continue to Wroclaw/Breslau and check into Hotel Sofitel Wroclaw Dinner at the Hotel |
| Day 3 |
Tour of the city to include important sites in the defence of Breslau. View sites of military historical importance. Wander through the centre of town. Visit the Raclawica Panorama museum. Travel to the Jahrhunderthalle (century hall), cathedral island (Dominsel) and the environs. Dinner at the hotel |
| Day 4 |
Travel to Dresden. Visit the Military History Museum Wander through the centre of town, tour of the city to the ("blue bridge" and the castles on the river Elbe. Check in to the Steigenberger Hotel de Saxe. A brandnew luxury hotel in the old city centre next to the Frauen church. Dinner at the Hotel |
| Day 5 |
Travel to Königstein fortress; view the fortress, including munitions loading systems, casemates and the deep cellar. Lunch at the fortress Travel by pleasure steamer back to Dresden. Dinner at the hotel |
| Day 6 |
Visit the VW "glass" car factory. Return to Cologne. |
